Program Curriculum
The Texas Model established four curriculum areas:
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Intrapersonal Effectiveness
Personal Health and Safety
Post Secondary Education and Career Readiness
This section explains how we addressed Intrapersonal effectiveness by delivering classroom guidance lessons in the areas of Grit and Self Management. Lessons provided students techniques to manage stress and emotions effectively, such as mindfulness and deep breathing. Students also learned the importance of continuing to pursue goals despite challenges.
Evaluation of the Learning Outcome:
Based on the outcome of these activities, students were able to demonstrate passion and perseverance toward a goal despite being confronted by significant obstacles and distractions. The results of the Panorama Survey reflected that there was a 4% growth in the areas of Grit and Self Management.
Counselor's and Stakeholders Working Together
The Cleckler-Heald school counselors collaborate with stakeholders to plan, manage, implement, and evaluate services delivered through the counseling program, including the delivery of the guidance curriculum. Teachers supplement the curriculum through daily morning meetings and activities where they integrate the SEL lessons throughout the year. The school counselor advocates how each delivery component (guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support) works in harmony to support student success. This partnership is key to building strong emotional and academic intelligence in students. Collaboratively reviewing data from student and teacher surveys helps determine the best lessons for our students. The Team works to promote the development of the whole child, advocates for services and resources students need to form healthy relationships, improves perceptions of self-worth, making good choices to help them be successful in the future.
