Multiple Presenters and Topics Day 1
In this video Maureen Ferry, WDNR, reviewed the Department’s Response Framework which we follow when new invasive species are found in the state, and gave us an update on the potential for knotweed biocontrol. Kelly Kearns, WDNR, provided an update on the status of the update process for the WI Invasive Species Rule, NR40. Tim Campbell discussed reactions to discovering new AIS and messaging. The video ends with a follow up discussion after a breakout session on taking the fear out of a new response.
Multiple Presenters and Topics Day 2
During day two of the meeting, Samantha Koyen, Door County Conservationist reported on the first year of using CD3 boat cleaning stations. Maureen Ferry reported on the 2020 AIS monitoring Season. Stephanie Boismenue (Oneida County), Ramona Shackelford (Northwest Cooperative Weed Management Area), Zach Wilson (Iron County), and Matt Wallrath (Upper Sugar River Watershed Association) reported on how volunteers enhance the results of invasive species work in their areas. Jeanne Scherer, UW Madison Extension NRI, provided an update to AIS outreach to gardeners with ‘wet feet’ through the work being done with gardening expert Melinda Myers
