THIS PAGE NEEDS UPDATES DUE TO NEW VERSIONS OF THE VIEWERS. THE LAKES AND AIS VIEWER WAS UPDATED IN FALL 2024 .
There are two DNR Mapping Tools commonly used by AIS Coordinators. You can use the links at the top of the SWIMS 2.0 homepage to connect or use the links below.
1) Surface Water Data Viewer (SWDV)
You can also get to this viewer by clicking on the Additional Resources tab on the SWDV.
As of Fall 2024, we no longer need to add stations to the Lakes and AIS Viewer (LAV). Station layers are NOT turned on when you open the viewer, so you'll need to turn them on like any other layer.
3) Looking for the "Where Boaters Have Been" tool? Unfortunately, it is not currently supported.
Wondering how to find Prevention signs besides looking in your county list in SWIMS? THIS STILL WORKS IN THE NEW VERSION OF THE VIEWER. 🤩
In the Lakes and AIS Viewer, scroll down through the layers window to AIS Education and Outreach. Click in the box to check it. Next you should see several choices to check, it including AIS Signage! Check that box, scroll into the area of the map you're interested in and you should see a tiny icon of our boat launch signs! This means that one or more times, people have reported putting up or checking on that sign at the station it is associated with. If you have gone to that station and not seen a sign, you can contact your Regional AIS Biologist to get a replacement.
Heads up: If you happen to have the stations layer on, the little triangle is going to go over the sign, so it'll be easier to see it if you temporarily turn the stations layer off by unchecking it in the layers window.
