Branchaw Research Group, housed in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, conducts research on the Entering Research curriculum and on trainees’ mentored research experiences. Learn more about these research efforts and get involved by visiting our website (coming soon).

Entering Mentoring electronic curricular materials and facilitator resources can be downloaded free of charge at the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER).

Evaluation surveys  are available for facilitators to use to assess mentor training workshops. Surveys are designed to be administered post training and collect information on mentoring background, training satisfaction, changes in behavior, and mentoring skill gains.

Facilitator Recognition allows you to demonstrate your individual commitment to the local dissemination of research mentor and/or research mentee training to support an inclusive scientific workforce. Growth of the biomedical research workforce would not be possible without the ongoing efforts of facilitators who implement research mentor and research mentee trainings. NRMN and CIMER are devoted to recognizing the achievements and dedication of these facilitators at various stages.

MyNRMN Group “Facilitators of Entering Mentoring (Mentor Training)” is an online community for faculty, staff, and administrators who are interested in or already using mentor training curricula in the Entering Mentoring series. Individuals are invited to join this group to learn more about the curricula, seek implementation advice, and share best practices.

MyNRMN Group “Facilitators of Entering Research (Mentee Training)" is an online community for instructors and program directors of undergraduate and graduate research training programs who are interested in or already using the Entering Research mentee training curricular materials and resources. Individuals are invited to join this group to learn more about the curriculum (including updates about the release of the new version and facilitator training opportunities), seek implementation advice, and share best practices in supporting research trainee development generally.

NIH Scientific Workforce Diversity (SWD) Toolkit is a free, downloadable interactive resource institutions can use to help advance their own faculty diversity and inclusion. The toolkit guides users through evidence-based interrelated activities that SWD is currently using to foster an inclusive culture that unleashes the power of diversity to achieve research and institutional excellence. These include expanding diversity of the candidate pool, proactive outreach to diverse talent, mitigating bias in search processes, and developing/sustaining mentoring relationships and sponsorship.

Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE) developed the Entering Research curriculum. Facilitators and program directors can learn more about the curriculum, including recent research and publications, and access additional tools and resources to support their implementations.
