NRMN/CIMER Facilitator Certification Program

Program Overview

Growth of the biomedical research workforce would not be possible without the ongoing efforts of facilitators who implement research mentor and research mentee trainings. The National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) and the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) are devoted to recognizing the achievements and dedication of these facilitators at various stages.

Facilitator certifications allow you to demonstrate your individual commitment to the local dissemination of research mentor and/or research mentee training to support an inclusive scientific workforce.

NRMN and CIMER acknowledge those who are committed to facilitating research mentor and/or research mentee training in their local contexts through recognition as a Trained Facilitator (level 1) and Certified Facilitator (level 2). There are two tracks to choose from, depending on which curricula you use for your trainings. If you use curricula from the Entering Mentoring series, you may be eligible for Track 1. If you use curricula from the Entering Research series, you may be eligible for Track 2.

Track 1: Entering Mentoring (Research Mentor Training)

Track 2: Entering Research (Research Mentee Training)

Visit the following pages to view the criteria and expectations for each level of facilitator certification:

1. Level 1: Trained Facilitator

2. Level 2: Certified Facilitator

Facilitators whose applications are approved will receive a letter of recognition endorsed by NRMN or CIMER, recognizing their level of experience and skill as a facilitator.

Thank you for your efforts in implementing mentorship trainings to support the next generation of diverse scientists!
