1. General rules of thumb
Keep it Simple
Minimize use of text
Use bullet points to craft succinct descriptive points
Test size guidelines for a 3' X 4' (36 inch. X 48 inch.) template:
Title: 32-40 point
Authors: 28-36 point
Sub-headings: 32-34 point
Section text: 20-24 point
Graph captions: 18 point
Display baseline vs. post-intervention data in simple graphs
Use easy to read text, simple backgrounds, and contrasting colors that draws readers attention to your poster.
Review your poster for errors, typos, blurry pictures, etc., multiple times before submitting for print. Remember, you are presenting to other professionals.
Keep white space and breathing room between sections, text and graphics
Provide citations for research information that is not your original work on the poster.
