FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens once I confirm my conditional offer?

This means that you have a place to study at Wilmington Academy if you meet the entry requirements stated in your offer letter. In order to determine whether you do meet these entry requirements, you will be invited to attend an interview. If we are still under Government restrictions your interview will be via a remote method. If you are just below the required grades, you may still be able to gain a place, so please contact us if this is the case.

How do I let you know my grades?

You will need to send confirmation of your grades to us; if we are still under Government restrictions, you can do this by either scanning in your provisional results letter or uploading a picture of them and emailing us at post16@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk. If you are attending an interview in person, then we will be able to take a copy of your results there and then.

When will you let me know about enrolment?

We will write to you in July with details of your interview and admissions forms you will need to complete as part of your enrolment. These will need to be completed whether you attended Wilmington Academy in Year 11 or another provider. You will also be provided with induction materials for your chosen courses. These materials will need to be completed prior to starting with us in September and all assessment pieces handed in to subject teachers during your first lesson.

My grades are not what I expected?

Don’t worry, let us know and we may still be able to help you by offering an alternative programme. Each application is treated differently and personal circumstances can be taken into account. If you just miss out, we may be able to accept you, email us at post16@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk.

How can I return my admission form?

Admission forms are downloadable from the Admissions tab on this website. Completed forms can either be returned to either electronically to lesley.elson@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk or via the post to: Wilmington Academy Post 16 Admissions, Common Lane, Wilmington, Dartford, Kent, DA2 7DR. All forms must be returned with a completed 'Home Academy Agreement' signed by both parents/carers and students and a passport sized photograph.

I am already a Wilmington Academy student, do I need to return an admission form?

Yes! Unfortunately, the system requires you to complete a fresh admission form in order to enrol onto Level 3 qualifications. Admission forms should also include a passport sized photograph.

I think I might have a learning difficulty that might affect my study?

As part of your admissions form, you will be asked to fill in details about any access arrangements you have previously received. If you will be new to the academy, based on this information we will contact your previous school to obtain evidence of this and ensure that this provision can be applied in your future examinations.

What if I want to change one of my subjects?

You have plenty of time. You can email us at post16@wilmingtonacademy.org.uk. at any time, or you can notify us in your admissions meeting after your GCSE results. You can even change when you arrive in September. The absolute latest chance to change your classes is 25th September- remember though, the later you change, the more work you’ll need to catch up on!
