Fourth grade Common Core reading standards are taught in a workshop format using materials from  the district-adopted resource Units of Study for Teaching Reading as well as other supplementary resources. This year, fourth graders will work on reading and comprehending more complex texts, and seeing significance in details.  The four units of study are:

• Unit 1: Interpreting Characters: The Heart of the Story 

• Unit 2: Reading the Weather, Reading the World: Purposeful Reading of Nonfiction

• Unit 3: Reading History: The Industrial Revolution

• Unit 4: Historical Fiction Clubs
