This is my 27th year teaching and my 24rd year teaching in Wilmette. I grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, where most of my family still lives - and where I love to visit, especially in the summer. I graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.S. degree in Education and a second major in English Literature, received my M.A. degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University, and hold teaching endorsements in gifted education and middle school language arts. I taught 5th and 6th grade before coming to Wilmette, where I taught 4th grade at McKenzie for five years. As much as I loved being a classroom teacher, I was excited to support teachers as well as students of all ages, and accepted the position of Differentiation Support Teacher (DST) at Harper, where I worked for 17 years. In this role I had the privilege of helping teachers hone their craft as educators, as well as work directly with students to support their learning needs and interests. With the conclusion of the role of DST across the district, I joined the Central team last year to return to my roots as a 4th grade teacher.
As well as being a D39 teacher, I am also a Wilmette resident. I have lived here for the past 10+ years with my husband Josh and our two daughters. In my free time, I love reading (preferably with a cup of tea in hand), enjoy traveling and trying different foods, and I can often be found gardening or exercising. In reality, when I'm not doing schoolwork or something around the house, I can usually be found prepping dinner or driving my kids somewhere.
