WISD Literacy Framework:
A Multitiered Approach
The balance between grade level TEKS and meeting students' at their level of need can be a tricky task. An effective approach to meeting those needs is through the Multitiered Literacy Approach. When done with fidelity, this approach addresses all aspects of literacy instruction. We will utilize the WISD Literacy SIG throughout the year to provide embedded and ongoing professional development.

- continue to grow our craft on the mini lesson
- dig deeper into word study and implementation of research based practices
- refine the components of the independent work time, including small groups, stations, conferences, and inquiry groups
2023-2024 focus
- continue to grow our craft of the whole literacy framework
- phonics & word study
- grammar & convention - mentor sentence and the invitations process
- student independent work time
