Willis ISD Literacy Team

Why do we exist?

It is our literacy mission to support instruction that embodies the interconnected nature of listening, speaking, reading, writing and thinking in a way that maximizes students' capabilities and helps them reach their full potential as proficient readers, writers, communicators, and thinkers in a global society.

What must we become to accomplish our mission?

To accomplish this mission, we must become Literacy Leaders that work in a culture of literacy consciousness on our campuses, across our district, and in our community.

How will we behave to achieve our vision?

We will hold one another accountable and create positive peer pressure utilizing the tools that will help us make decisions regarding (1) instruction, (2) addressing campus, classroom, and individual student needs, (3) providing constructive feedback to each other, our teachers, and our students, (4) creating engaging small or whole group and one-on-one learning activities, and (5) decide on tailored professional learning offerings.
