Welcome back to the new academic year! I hope you have had a restful summer break. It's been wonderful seeing so many of you in the mornings. This summer has certainly been eventful. As I mentioned in this week's assembly, we've enjoyed another spectacular Olympic Games in Paris. However, the most significant news this summer, a development many anticipated, was Liam and Noel making amends. It seems they afforded us a year to digest the inevitable reunion (unlike someone else I could mention). I must admit, my mention of Oasis was met with a few blank stares, which led me to realise, as a veteran of Knebworth in ‘96, many of you, as parents, were probably teenagers during their heyday. That certainly makes me feel my age!
As your children are swiftly discovering, the term will pass quickly due to the bustling nature of school life. We dived straight into activities from day one, and it's been wonderful to see the children embracing every opportunity. Clubs commence next week, adding another layer to our dynamic school environment. Over the summer, the bursarial team have coordinated a number of improvements to the school, one of which is the fabulous new surface and nets in the senior playground - a welcome upgrade to enhance PE lessons and, of course, playtime.
Just a couple of polite reminders as we aim to maintain a positive start to the term. At pick-up and drop-off times, please refrain from parking on the double yellow lines. We're all aware of the importance of keeping these areas clear—not only for the safety of our children, ensuring visibility for all road users but also to maintain a respectful and considerate community ethos. Additionally, we kindly ask that you park with consideration and do not obstruct anyone's driveway. Thank you for your cooperation.
We are delighted to welcome Miss Beere, our new art teacher, to Willington this term. It's safe to say she has thoroughly enjoyed her first week, finding our school environment exceptionally friendly and welcoming!
I anticipate many of you joining us next week at our information evenings for some wine and nibbles. The start of term always brings a flurry of information, so please do not hesitate to contact us if there's anything you're uncertain about.
Have a great weekend. KB
Hyunseung came first in his group at the 7th KMAMA Taekwondo Championship tournament. It was his first sparring match in the UK, and he did it with confidence. He felt very proud of himself!
