Dear Willington School Community,
I am thrilled to join Willington School as your new Head of Art and to embark on this exciting creative journey with our talented pupils. The enthusiasm and knowledge the children have already demonstrated is impressive, and I’m eager to see their creativity flourish throughout the year.
We have a fantastic array of projects lined up! Our Reception children will explore the beauty of the elements of art, while Year 1 will draw inspiration from nature by sketching and painting leaves. Year 2 will venture into imaginative realms with their “Weird World” creations, and Year 3 will focus on intricate patterns. Year 4 will dive into the vibrant world of the London Underground, Year 5 will be designing imagery of cakes, and Year 6 will immerse themselves in the rich patterns of African art.
To keep our uniforms safe from paint splashes, I would like to request that you please send your child with an old shirt or apron for their art lessons. These protective garments will ensure their uniforms stay clean and pristine. Kindly ensure that these items come with your child to their art lessons each week.
In addition to our classroom projects, I’m excited to introduce the new Art Masters Club, running every Thursday for Years 5 and 6. This will be a wonderful opportunity for keen artists to enhance their drawing skills, experiment with various media, and build a personal portfolio.
Please look through the images below to see some of the amazing work created in our first week of term.
Warm regards,
Miss Beere
