The 2026 CANUSA Student Workshop was held in Chicago, Illinois, USA. This workshop provided students with opportunitites to learn about wildlife health in an urban setting, with experiences from the Lincoln Park Zoo, Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and more! Students had the opportunity to practice skills, from radiotelemetry to physical exams on wildlife species, while growing their network and expanding their knowledge of opportunities in wildlife conservation!
The 2025 CANUSA Student Workshop was held in Vancouver and Victoria, BC. This workshop provided students with a hands-on experience learning about wildlife health and conservation within the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Students will experience behind-the-scenes tours of the Vancouver Aquarium and Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, practice chemical immobilization techniques, explore innovative strategies for managing wildlife populations, engage in an ethnobotany walk to foster new relationships with the land, and acquire valuable professional skills.
The 2024 CANUSA Student Workshop was held at St. Matthew's University in the Cayman Islands, a location providing common ground between Canada, USA, and Latin American students. This workshop provided students with a hands-on experience learning about wildlife disease and conservation within the Caribbean. At the workshop, experienced researchers and veterinarians will educate students through lectures, films, necropsies, and field experiences, focusing on topics such as sea turtle health, coral conservation, stingray handling and data collection, and professional development.
