Employers & Businesses Post Job Openings for Students Here!
A Job Shadow is an opportunity to observe someone doing their job. These are conducted at actual places of work and allow for interaction with staff and through a variety of activities. Job shadows take place over the course of a few hours to one work day. This program is open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.
*Please note, you are responsible for your own transportation both to and from the job shadow site. Scheduling is based on the job shadow host's availability and you may need to miss part of or a whole school day in order to participate. The School-To-Careers Coordinator will arrange for an excused school absence once the parent/guardian and teacher permission forms are turned in. Please speak with a parent/guardian before submitting a job shadow request.
Job Shadow Process:
Step 1: Start here with the Student Request Form. This will be forwarded to the School-To-Careers Coordinator to begin your journey.
Step 2: The School-To-Careers Coordinator will begin to look for a placement for you. Please make sure you are checking your school email on a daily basis as this is how you will be contacted once a placement is found. You and/or your parent/guardian may also be contacted during this time for additional information pertaining to your request.
Step 3: When a placement is found, you will be forwarded a Parent/Guardian and Teacher permission form.
Step 4: Upon completion of your Job Shadow you will be asked to complete a Student Reflection Form. This takes place after the event and is used to finalize your experience.
If you are a local business interested in hosting a student Job Shadow, please email Paulina Domika, our School-To-Careers Coordinator.
*Thank you for your interest in the Job Shadow program.
