R4 LOSERS
R4LOSERS was an adventurous project. What was to be a mural inspired by the work of Shepard Fairey ended up being cancelled due to Covid-19. As a result this photo, originally taken at our school's walkout, it was then morphed and half-toned using photoshop. I made my vision as close to life as possible.
WHY DESIGN?
I CAN DO IT DAILY, that's why.
THE CHALLENGE
I chose to challenge myself by designing one poster, mockup, etc... each day for a month. These are my top twelve picks from this period of time.
Inspired by the Design Black List.
The goal was to sharpen my skills by making something, it didn't even have to be good. On my most blocked day, I created "Make Things". On my most inspired I made "Samurai Black", point being I had something to start off the day with. A first creative step and small victory of the mornings.
THE STUFF ON THE SIDE
LIGHT STUDY
I've always been fascinated by light and Bokeh. The ladder is the background blur that occurs when a photo is shot at a low aperture. What catches my attention most is the unorganized mess of blurred in the background. Although this can also be seen as neat swirls or circles depending on the lens.
When beginning photography, my only goal was to achieve the "fattest" bokeh possible. However that mission lacked structure and would soon become an exploration of the aperture triangle. More specifically, I wanted to study night photography and how to utilize street signs and lights in my photos.
Preferring to shoot when the street lights are on has its challenges. Although that's when most comfortable using my camera.

COLLABORATION
Collaboration is key. Without input from others there's no way to grow. I don't know everything but I'd like to learn. With that said, I think of Max as the best lab partner to ever exist. We're behind the scenes in each-others projects, constantly collaborating just because we can. Without my homie, a lot of my work ethic, artistic process and way of thinking would be different. In times where I've over done it and edited the photo death (I'm talkin' really deep fried an image), he'll remind me tone it down followed by input on how we would do it.
SHooting for a purpose
These photos were shot in January for my Zine, ToeBoy. I was overall very satisfied with the product of the process from camera to post. The highlight of the process answering my big question of what can I do in AP Art. I was able to creatively mix my own media (photos, graphics, etc...) in a way that's unique to me while.

SCULPTING THE CROWN
POINT AND SHOOT
Project description
I carried around a point and shoot camera for a few weeks out of the year. In this time I took a few sets of photos and filmed 3 videos. In doing this I was able to work on my run and gun camera guy skills, having an idea and shooting it without setting up the Aperture triangle or adjusting a lens. This barebones approach also allowed me to practice my editing, with faux film being on the rise in popularity I thought it necessary to try hand in this style. The Point and Shoot Project was by far the most fun having various iterations color grading across each set photos.
