ATTENTION WILDCATS! This month's focus for Wildcat of the Month is Respect. What is respect you might ask? Respect, also called esteem, is a positive feeling or action shown towards someone or something. For example treating your classmates with respect is not fighting or hitting them and listening to them. And respecting their things. You can treat your teachers with respect by listening when the teacher is talking and respecting their decisions. Here are some quotes from your fellow students.
“What I think about respect is to be kind to people and their belongings.”
“Ways you can be respectful is picking up trash, or holding a door for a teacher or a student.”
If you want to be recognized as Wildcat of the Month then make sure you are on your best behavior and always show respect.

Hello Andrews Parents and/or Wildcats! This very Saturday we are having a Andrews School Picnic, right in the park! Sounds fun, right?
What is Going to Happen:
At exactly 11:00 am the gates will be wide open to all who want to participate! This will last all the way to 2:00 pm. What’s going to happen? Well we’re going to have a picnic obviously, but remember, the entire park will be open, so if you have a kid or are a kid that wants to play, go ahead and bring some equipment!
Reason You Should Come:
Perhaps we should get to the most important question. Why should you come? Why should you take time from your precious weekend to come to this event? Well my friend, because I have no idea! You thought I was gonna try and convince you huh? Nah, that’s not really my type of thing. You should only come if you and your child want to. As a parent or child, neither of you should feel obligated to participate in this event. Especially if you don’t have the time for it. But if you do have the time and feel like coming, then come on! I would like you to join if you can.
What You Should/Want to Bring:
You're probably asking yourself if we have food here at Andrews? We don’t, you will probably want to bring food and snacks so you don’t get hungry. You would want to bring an umbrella, hat, and your blankets, you might even want to bring your sunscreen. Also make sure to bring water to be hydrated during this hot weather.
Conclusion/Goodbye:
Well my dear friend that’s all I have to say. There’s nothing left in this article except for a goodbye. And a promotion! Make sure you read the other articles as well. They are all written by amazing kids at the school, go ahead and check out the interviews! I know that they did a splendid job. Better than I ever could! Alas, that is all I have left to say, goodbye.
To the 19th annual Back to School Night! Since our school’s closure back in 2020, we are proud to announce that Back to School Night is returning to Andrews!
Taking place from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on September 15th at Wallen L. Andrews school. We hope that you guys will meet the staff members and teachers. Also if we haven’t told you yet, have a good time. I-ready is an electronic diagnostic that is used by schools to see what grade level work you know and what your teachers can support you with. Sometimes people do lessons but the lessons match what grade level you are at. There are certain tests called diagnostics that measure what grade level you are in. I-Ready helps identify areas of need and you can work on this area in Intervention class.
Why should students use i-ready, i-Ready online instruction efficiently targets skill gaps to help students who are behind access grade-level content and provides challenge and enrichment for students who are ready.
I-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help the teachers determine your needs, personalize your learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. I-Ready allows the teachers to meet your students exactly where they are and provides data to increase our learning gains.
-Opinion-
I think I-ready is a good way to digitally learn ELA and Math, but in my opinion its pretty boring. But I’ve read others opinions on I-ready and they all think kinda the same. A student, Steven said that I-Ready was a good learning site, but he said it can get boring often. Another student, Emily, wants to burn it. I-Ready is a digital online program used for learning things like math and reading. There's also mini-games to play if given permission from teachers. I-ready provides knowledge from all grades depending on your diagnostic test score results, there are many grade levels that can be achieved but your goal should be a grade above or at your grade level.

What is Labor day? We had Journalist Isabella and Cameraman Julian ask two Middle School students what they knew about Labor Day. Our first interviewed student was Marlee, 8th. Our question was “What is Labor Day to you?” She replied with “A day to take naps!” Which was similar to our second interviewed student Sabrina Rodriguez, 8th who had said “A day off of school.” Which shows how unrecognized Labor Day is.
Labor Day is a national holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September. Labor Day was first celebrated in New York City in 1885 and has been celebrated in America ever since. Labor day pays tribute to the achievements of American workers. “In June 1894 president Grover Cleveland signed into law a bill making Labor Day a national holiday” says a News article. Every Labor day students and some workers get Labor Day off for vacation. “Today, the holiday is observed in all 50 United States and in Canada.” “Oregon became the first state, in 1887, to grant legal status to the holiday (although the state initially celebrated it on the first Saturday in June). That same year Colorado, New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey established the holiday on the first Monday in September, and other states soon followed.” Fun fact ,you CAN wear white after Labor Day even though people say not to!
Hurricane Kay has made its passing through Mexico's Baja California and some parts of southern California including some cities like San Diego, Ensenada, and lots more. But don't worry once it reaches us it will be split in the tiny little pieces. We will only be a small storm. All that will happen is some rain, winds, lots of humidity, and a chance for some thunderstorms.
Stay safe out there, Wildcats. Watch the skies!
