Understanding whether WGU needs to secure your placement for PCE or whether it is a school that you may approach directly is extremely important to understand. Inappropriate contact with certain districts can damage WGU's relationship with the district and can affect the probability of you being placed in that district. Below you will find a review of the district request map and what each color means for the various districts.
Great news! Districts that are in green allow students to secure their own placement directly at the schools. You may contact school administrators within this district to set-up your own PCE placement.
It is suggested that you arrange your own placement in a green district if possible. Arranging these placements directly tend to be quicker.
Good news! This district requires WGU to arrange your PCE placement but this may extend the placement process. If you choose a district coded yellow, contact your Placement Coordinator to learn more about this district's PCE placement procedures. If you need PCE placement sooner, it is suggested that you arrange your own placement in a green coded district.
If you wish to complete PCE in a yellow coded district, you must contact your Placement Coordinator at least six months prior to needing your placement.
If a district is marked red, then these districts DO NOT accept WGU students. You will need to choose another district for your PCE placement. If you have questions about why this district is closed, please contact your Placement Coordinator.
If a district is marked gray, it means WGU does not currently have a relationship established with this district. We encourage you to select districts where WGU has an existing relationship to secure your placement in a timely manner.
If you are interested in a gray coded district, you must contact your Placement Coordinator for additional information and guidance.
