Securing Your Own PCE Placement

Getting your PCE placement arranged is an integral part to receiving PCE approval. When arranging your PCE placement, there are districts that require WGU to arrange a placement on your behalf and there are districts that will allow you to arrange your own. If your preferred district requires WGU to secure a placement for you (yellow coded), you must contact your Placement Coordinator. If the district will allow you to secure your own placement (green coded), the following information will help you as you secure your own placement.

As you look to secure your own PCE placement, first begin by reviewing the PCE Packet prior to reaching out to schools. This packet includes:

• General PCE Student Instruction Letter
• Instructions for Meeting with Your Administrator
• Letter to the Administrator (Explaining PCE)
• PCE Verification Form
• PCE Frequently Asked Questions and Tips for Success
• A Student's Guide to Preclinical Experiences- Includes tips on how to approach schools requesting placement, professionalism, and troubleshooting ideas if you have difficulty securing a placement.
