Knowing where you can complete your PCE observations is extremely important. The field experiences handbook has placement requirements broken down for each program. Please visit the field experiences handbook for more information on your specific program requirements.
Depending on when you began your degree program at WGU, you will complete 60-75 hours for PCE. Please contact your program mentor to verify what is required for you.
Prior to beginning PCE, there is a trajectory of events that must take place prior to being allowed to begin your observations. That trajectory is found in this slide.
*Please note that you cannot begin PCE without first receiving PCE approval from the Field Placement office and enrollment in your PCE course must to be in your current term. Failure to follow these policies can result in a disposition concern.
Up to 30 hours may take place at your assigned PCE school in other settings/classrooms from your program's content area to add diversity to the experience. These additional 30 hours are referred to as flex hours.
If you are a long-term substitute (4 weeks or more), a paraprofessional, an instructional support staff member, or a teacher of record (TOR), you may complete up to 30 of your PCE hours in your own assigned classroom or your own comparable setting. These hours will be counted as your flex hours.
