Training

Young people are powerful agents of change. Westwood believes in encouraging the next generation to participate actively in making an impact to improve lives of people in the community. By equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate the future, opportunities for their voices to be heard and a space to problem-solve and realise their ideas, we hope these young Maker Ambassadors will make future designed for them, by them.

Annual Training

All Maker Ambassadors will participate in an annual training at the start of the year facilitated by the teacher-in-charge of the Maker Ambassadors to prepare themselves for their duties and roles in the coming year. Senior Maker Ambassadors will serve as student facilitators in the training programme as well.

Makey Makey workshop

The Ambassadors are trained to code in Scratch Programming and on how to use the Makey Makey board to create a digital piano. These skills will be useful when the Maker Ambassadors assist as student facilitators to guide their peers in Westwood's Maker Uplift programme.

Boson Kits & advanced coding workshop

The Ambassadors are also trained to code using the components from the Boson kit. Working in cooperative groups, they need to brainstorm for possible problems faced by different groups of people in the community and at home. Then they will need to come up with with c a prototypes and present how that will be able to help the people in community.
