ABOUT ME - MY TEACHING CONTEXT

I teach at John. F. Deering Middle School in West Warwick, RI. I have taught at DMS for the past 4 years in the World Languages Department. I currently teach 7th grade Spanish and 8th grade Italian. Each class is the duration of 1 Trimester or 60 days. On average, I teach approximately 300 students per year (about 100 per trimester). 

The instructional materials, assignments, and assessments in this portfolio are designed to align with translanguaging pedagogies and demonstrate the 10 purposes for Pedagogical Translanguaging within my teaching context of foreign languages (Hamman-Ortiz et. al, 2023). Throughout the examples of instructional materials and student work, you will find examples of content, process, and assessment that emphasize translanguaging pedagogy.
