Ode to a Lobster
Oh, Bottom Feeder Lobster
Living in the sandy floor of the ocean
They’re the cockroaches
In the dark deep ocean
They’re the low man feeders
Oh, Slow Lobster
Fisherman caught you in a rectangle lobster cage
The lobstermen have to be patient
Can take 2-3 hours for the bottom feeders to be captured
Best in the Atlantic of New England
Oh, Many Lobsters
at a fancy restaurant /served hot on a silver plate
buy it online/ packaged in a white styrofoam cooler,/ ready to be eaten
Even at a Walmart /in an air tight bag
at a fisherman’s dock/ still moving and clawing away
Oh, Pricey Lobster
Super expensive bottom feeder
Like a Lamborghini /considered high class
Market rate/ at a fancy restaurant /or a picnic bench at a dock
Posh like Chanel
Oh, Red Lobster
Bib feels like a white garbage bag /around my neck
But cracking open a lobster, not so fun
Once you crack it, all the juices fly out
Messy patient process to clean the meat
Oh, Fancy Lobster
In a restaurant, naked without a shell
Served on a fancy plate
Steamy butter on the side
Grab and piece, dip it in butter and enjoy
Oh, Backyard Lobster
Cracking my own lobster - hard work
White plastic bib protects my clothes from the lobster juice
Some parts of the lobster gross me out but
the white and red juicy lobster bites are the best
Satisfaction is granted after the work
Oh, Enjoyable Lobster
Worth the money- special treat to save up for
Worth the time- buy it, steam it, crack it, serve it, eat it
Worth the cracking- cracking through the hard red shell
And worth the mess- my hands get extremely dirty and gooey
Worthy for all
young and old,
rich and poor,
For everyone to enjoy
