Overview:

In this module you will be learning about Google Drive, Google's file storage and synchronization service which enables user cloud storage, file sharing and collaborative editing.

Objectives:

  • Understand how to access Google Drive on your computer or on the Web
  • Upload, store, and access files on Google Drive
  • Convert documents to Google Drive format and edit
  • Edit privacy settings in Google Drive
  • Share documents for viewing/editing in Google Drive
  • Evaluate Google Drive as a cloud-based communication and collaboration tool

Student Responsibilities: Please review the linked resources below, complete the tasks, and share your thoughts on Google Classroom.

Tasks:

    • Log in to your school Google account: http://drive.google.com
    • Upload a file to your Google Drive and keep it in its original file format (i.e. .doc, .pdf, .ppt, .xls, etc.)
    • Upload a file to your Google Drive and convert it to Google Drive format
    • Share both of your documents with the instructor (rleomsc@westgenesee.org) and allow him to edit
    • Edit the privacy settings to allow anyone with the link to view your documents

Discuss: Complete the following on Google Classroom:

    • Share your Google username (i.e. your Gmail address)
    • Share the links to the documents you created in Google Drive
    • Share your thoughts on the positive/negative aspects of using Google Drive to collaborate and communicate with your colleagues, students, and families, and how you might integrate this tool into your leadership.
    • Feel free to comment on at least one other student's note.
