We are an FTC team from Westford Academy, a public high school in Westford, Massachusetts. This year is our 20th year competing, and our team consists of students from grades nine through twelve with a variety of experience levels. We meet regularly on Wednesdays from 2:30 - 3:30 and on Fridays from 2:30 - 6:00 in room 219.
FIRST is an organization that aims to inspire young children and students to pursue a career in STEM. It is divided into 4 different levels. We participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), created for middle and high school students, although our team consists only of high school students. Each year, FTC creates a new challenge that is revealed in early September. These challenges require teams to work together to develop a well-designed robot. Each round during competition consists of three states: autonomous, teleop, and endgame. Qualifiers run throughout December, January and February. The state championship is usually the first Saturday in March, and determines the three teams which will move on and represent Massachusetts for the rest of the rounds.
