Art Teacher
Hello Wildcats! My name is Mr. Mendoza and I am the Art Teacher here at Westerly and also teach Digital Arts at Summer with Westerly. I am born and raised here in Long Beach, CA and attended Cal State University of Long Beach where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation/Illustration and will be pursuing my Masters of Fine Arts in Film/Television Production Design. I am thrilled to be part of the Westerly community and to continue working with each and every one of you to find and nurture your own creative voices.
Outside of my professional life as an educator, storyboard artist and illustrator, I am usually making memories with my family. I enjoy spending my time playing video/board games, watching movies/television, cruising on my banana board and drawing (who would have guessed!?).

Art Teaching Associates

Tuesday / Thrusday
Throughout the school year, middle school students are exposed to a wide range of artists, art styles, and mediums, through which they learn and experiment with many projects within both 2D & 3D artistic learning experiences. We encourage students to engage in conversations about art and see the world around them through multiple lenses. We ask middle schoolers to practice creative problem-solving, embrace a sense of exploration, and build upon their curiosity. We are excited to be a part of the middle schoolers' creative experience and artistic growth.
