The Westerly Middle School Physical Education Staff is proud to make physical activity a part of the community. It is with your support that allows us to teach children about the benefits and organization of many physical activities. Instruction and assessment tends to be based upon students' participation in class physical activities.
AS YOU HAVE NOTICED, THIS SITE IS NO LONGER PART OF THE WPS WEB.
NOBODY HAS TOLD US WHY. WE'VE ALL SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS CREATING THIS SITE. PLUS, WE WERE TOLD WE HAD TO FOR GOOD PUBLIC RELATIONS. AND THEN ONE DAY, DELETE!
Our primary goals include the following:
Offer students choices of physical activities.
Create enjoyable activities to allow students to play and have fun.
It is recognized that students have diverse needs for physical activity. Students can assume higher or lower skill roles, such as in team contests, and when possible, students are allowed to choose basic movement activities such as walking/treadmill, resistance machines, video workouts(yoga, dance) and jumping rope.
ANYONE can use their preferred search engine, visit the library, watch the news, etc. and read about the many physical and emotional benefits of physical activity - Especially for children.
FOR EXAMPLE: Did you know that regular physical activity can help you look fit?...Especially during summer!!!!
