West End Primary School - Impact Missions

Impact Missions

We have considered all the aspects of Personal Development in a primary school setting and have defined thirteen areas. These areas are listed below and cover the majority of aspects of Personal Development. However there are many areas where there is overlap with discreet subjects that have separate schemes of work - PSHE or RE for example.

We have developed our Impact Missions to support our mission statement "Your impact shapes your tomorrow". These missions are intended to build over time the children's awareness, knowledge, skills and experiences leading to them being confident, happy, safe and healthy children when they move on to the next stage of their education.

We believe that it is really important that the children experience their own natural environment through exploration and the opportunity to improve upon it.

As part of our aim to create future citizens of a multi-cultural Britain we will give children first hand experiences of faiths that exist in Britain

To support children in keeping themselves and other safe we will teach the children explicit first aid practices so that they are prepared.

Each year we will provide the children with experiences to generate WOW moments to inspire and excite them.

Supporting children's mental health is hugely important in our school and we will support the children in developing the skills they need to become resilient but also to know how to seek help should they need it.

Mental health and physical health are intrinsically linked and we will provide opportunities to develop their physical health beyond those normal lessons in PE

Taking the stage is something that is memorable for all yet it takes confidence and we want to give all our children the opportunity to experience the feel of being on stage performing.

Our school is keen to develop the sportspeople of the future and we will endeavour to ensure that all children get to take part in competitive

We will provide children with skills to keep themselves safe when outside the school. This will be through activities such as pedestrian training for our youngest pupils or bikeability for our older students.

Thinking about careers in primary schools is really important to motivate and inspire our children for their future lives. We will provide opportunites and experiences to encourage the children to be aspirational about their future.

Understanding issues that are affecting our locality are really important to our children. We want our child to be safe not only now but to prepare them for the future when they become teenagers and young adults.

We are keen to celebrate our national identity and the values that make Great Britain a great place to live. Through work in school and taking on roles and responsibilities we are keen to develop the children's understanding of what it means to be British.

Our children are an integral part of our local community and we want their voices heard. This may be through raising funds to support others in need or by connecting with others to make their views known.
