Circles
Circles are the activity of mentor groups getting in a circle and having a conversation. Often there is a leader (mentor or mentee), a talking piece to pass, and prompts or questions.
The purpose of circles is to have open lines of communication when things are working so when there is a breakdown, we have a way to get back to one another. These Circles happen weekly and any time one is needed.
Conferences
Conferences are used as a time for a mentor and mentee to have a special 1:1 chat about the mentee's progress using the mentee's data. The mentee leads this conversation.
Conferences are scheduled out ahead of time, so mentees know when they are going to have one and can plan. Mentors can give time during mentoring to prepare. During conferences, the other mentees will have activities. See here.
Habits of Success
Mentoring is also a place where we learn and get better with our values and academic habits.

Habits of Success is a competency area where we reflect on how we move through the academic world and how we can get better. Explore HoS here.
Community Building
To grow as a group, we must build community intentionally. We do this through play, celebrations, games, and activities. This is how we build belonging and community together. This will be as unique as the humans within the group. Click here to see ideas for connection.
