Optional Spring Break Activities (el 30 de marzo - el 10 de abril / March 30 - April 10):

viernes, el 27 de marzo / Friday, March 27th:

  • Watch and sing along with the Calico song "Colores." This song includes all the basic color words (verde=green, rojo=red, blanco=white, azul=blue, negro=black, amarillo=yellow, anaranjado=orange). We have also learned café=brown, gris=grey, morado=purple, rosado=pink. Ask your child about the colors of different items in your house by using the question, "¿Qué color es?" [pronunciation: kay co-lore ays].
  • If you feel like he/she needs extra practice, you can use this Quizlet vocabulary set to learn them yourself practice with your child. There are virtual flashcards (with pronunciation), games, etc.

martes, el 24 de marzo / Tuesday, March 24th:

  • Log onto Reading A-Z using your username and password. (You can also use the first grade teachers' login - username: Wesley1st password: wesley .) Search for "De Colores" in the search bar (next to the magnifying glass), which is on the "Spanish Songs & Rhymes" page. Click on "Listen" and have the story read aloud to you. If you want, listen to other Spanish songs & rhymes on this page.
  • You can listen to another version of the song "De Colores" online. We have listened to Joan Baez and José Luis Orozco in class.

viernes, el 20 de marzo / Spanish lesson: Friday, March 20th:

  • Sing along with the song "Hola a todos" (1:38) Teach the song (along with the hand movements!) to a parent, a sibling, or a stuffed animal or toy.
  • Make flashcards using scrap paper or index cards to practice numbers 0 - 20 (forwards, backwards, and out of order). Parents can use this Quizlet set if they don't know these numbers. It includes virtual flashcards and audio for pronunciation.
  • Choose a storybook from the Tiempo de Leer YouTube channel to have read aloud to you. Choose a book whose story you already know in English. Comment below to tell me which book you listened to!
