Why Shadowdark?
You might be wondering: Why Shadowdark instead of D&D 5e?
D&D 5e is a fantastic game, but it comes with a lot of rules, options, character-building choices, and information to learn before you can really get started. For a therapy group, I want the game to be a tool for connection, exploration, and personal growth—not another thing you have to study or master.
Shadowdark is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game built around simple, intuitive rules and collaborative storytelling. It keeps the parts that make games like D&D so much fun—creating a character, exploring strange places, solving problems, battling monsters, making choices, and rolling dice—while reducing some of the complexity that can make traditional tabletop games intimidating for new players.
That makes it a great fit for this group. You don't need to know how to play D&D. You don't even need to know what a d20 is. Experienced players will find familiar ground, while new players can learn the game naturally as we play.
And you won't need to buy anything for the game itself.
No books. No dice. No subscriptions. No experience required.
I'll provide what you need to play. We'll learn the rules together, and the focus will be on the people around the table—not on who knows the most about the game.
