FAQs
Do I need to have played a tabletop RPG before?
No. Everything is taught in your first session, and the system we use is built to be easy to pick up.
Is this the same as playing with friends?
No. A licensed therapist runs the group and is actively working on individualized goals with each participant throughout the session — the game is the tool, not the whole point.
Is this a replacement for my individual therapy?
No. This is a skills-based group, not individual psychotherapy. It works well alongside individual therapy, and for some participants, individual therapy is a prerequisite for joining.
What happens if I miss a session?
We know life happens, and missing one or two sessions over the 12 weeks won't derail your progress. That said, this group works best when everyone shows up consistently — the story and the group dynamic both depend on it. Because your spot is reserved for you in advance and tuition covers the whole program, missed sessions are not refunded or prorated.
If you know ahead of time you'll miss a session, contact Tim at timguill@wellnesspartnerspllc.com or (208) 900-8080 beforehand.
Is what happens in group confidential?
Group confidentiality works a little differently than individual therapy. Everyone agrees to keep what's shared in the room — in and out of character — private, and we ask every member to hold each other to that same standard. That said, group confidentiality can't be guaranteed the way individual confidentiality can, since it depends on every member honoring the agreement. As with any counseling relationship, there are also standard legal limits to confidentiality (for example, safety concerns or suspected abuse). We'll walk through exactly what this means together, as a group, during your first session — before anyone shares anything personal.
Can I re-enroll for another 12 weeks?
Yes! Many participants choose to continue for another 12-week cycle, whether to keep going with the same story and party or to join a new one. Ask your facilitator about re-enrollment before your current cycle en
What ages do you serve?
Three groups, organized by age: 14–15, 16–17, and 18–20.
What game system do you use, and do I need to buy anything?
We play Shadowdark, a modern tabletop RPG with simple, free core rules. Everything you need is provided — there's nothing to buy to participate.
How much does it cost, and do you take insurance?
$50 per session ($600 total for the full 12-week program). We don't bill insurance for Adventures Wanted. This program is cash-pay only. A superbill is available upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement
