What to Send With Your Preschooler:
* Backpack-
~Please send your child to school with a backpack that is large enough to fit an 8 x 11.5 inch folder.
~Students will be sent home with a take-home folder to bring to and from school for notices, artwork, or teacher notes.
~IMPORTANT:Please clean-out your child’s folder each night.
* Lunch/Snack/Water Bottle-
~Please send :
1 Lunch
1 or 2 snacks (afternoon snack is optional)
1 water bottle filled with water.
Please put lunch and snacks in SEPARATE containers/bags. Please label everything with your child’s name.
~We are a NUT-FREE SCHOOL. Please do not send in anything that contains nuts. We will not be able to give it to your child to eat.
* Extra Clothing & Blanket/Towel-
~Please send in an extra set of clothes for your child to be kept at school labeled with his/her name.
~It is a good idea for your child to wear sneakers or shoes that are appropriate for playing on the playground. In the colder months, we still try to get outside so you may want to send your child in a hat and mittens, if possible. We also go out in the snow, so snow pants and boots are a good idea, as well.
~Also, keep in mind that we use a variety of art materials in the classroom throughout the year, so dress your child in clothes that can get messy.
~Please send in a towel or blanket for rest time to be kept at school and labeled with your child's name.
**If your child is not potty-trained please send in extra pull-ups, wipes, and non-latex gloves.
Classroom Routines:
*Drop-off-
~ If your child has difficulty at drop off time, it is best to stick with a simple drop-off routine (e.g. A kiss, a hug, then say goodbye).
~ In almost all cases, the child will calm after a short while. If you prefer, we can give you an update call/e-mail later in the day. I can also make a drop-off plan with you, if needed.
*Rest Time –
~ Often, children wonder what happens during rest time in Preschool 8. We look at a book quietly on a mat, listen to calming music, and draw with pencils for rest time. On average, rest time is about 20-25 minutes depending on when each child finishes lunch.
~ I rarely have any child sleep during rest time, but it is beneficial to have some down-time for children who are with us for a full-day.
~Please DO NOT send a stuffed animal or doll. They can get misplaced. We will send blankets home periodically to be washed.
