Members of the Waugh Chapel Swim Club,
As we wrap up the year and prepare for the upcoming pool season, the Board has conducted an analysis of the Club's income and expenses.
One of the main factors having a major impact is the increase in mandatory minimum wage in the state of Maryland. There is a 6.4% increase in minimum wage forcing all pay scales upward of $.75 an hour. The increase in materials, overhead, food, operating costs, and processing fees continue to rise. The only way to offset these costs is to increase maintenance fees.
Annual increases in minimum wage in the state of Maryland until it reaches $15.00 an hour will force all operating budgets to continue to rise in the future as labor costs go up.
For these reasons, starting in the 2022 season, the annual maintenance fee will increase $25.00 per membership with an additional $25.00 increase per membership for the 2023 season for a total of $50.00 over the next two years.
For the 2022 season, the following schedule will apply:
Early Bird Discount of $550 due by March 1, 2022
Full Payment of $575 due by April 1, 2022
Two Payment Option (made by check ONLY, cannot be paid on EZF site):
$300 due by March 1, 2022
$275 due by April 1, 2022
Any accounts with a balance due on April 2, 2022 will accrue a late fee.
Late Fees will apply to unpaid memberships:
April 2: $25 late fee assessed
May 2: $50 late fee assessed
May 16: $100 late fee assessed
June 1: Forfeiture of membership
Transfers/Sales of permanent membership will NOT be processed until any and all accrued late fees are paid first.
This decision was taken very seriously, and was only made after much research, consideration, and deliberation by the Board. The Board acknowledges there is never a good time to implement a dues increase, however as we are forced to keep up with the cost of labor and operating expenses that is escalating, we must take action.
As stated in the By-Laws, any member experiencing hardship, the Board has the authority to temporarily defer the payment of maintenance fees, if the hardship appears to be one of temporary nature. In this event, please reach out to the membership director at email@example.com for further arrangements.
We hope everyone enjoyed this past season and are excited for the upcoming year. Thank you for the continued support.
