Art Challenges
What is an Art Challenge?
Art challenges are great for a rigorous and extended art workout. Art challenges typically work like this;
Each month has a theme...usually something punny with the month's name....like Mermay, Inktober, Smaugust, Drawcember
Each day has a word. The word may or may not directly relate to the theme of the month.
Each day you create a piece of artwork in your sketchbook. The artwork must visually link the daily word/ idea with the monthly theme. Sometimes there is a specific material you need to use for the challenge, sometimes not. Check out some of the examples below!
Month: July "World Watercolor Month"
Daily Theme: "A Breathtaking View"
July's monthly theme is material based- so the artist had to use watercolor. How they interpreted the daily theme is up to them. Below are some examples using the same daily theme...you can see how different they are interpreted!
Art challenges are intended to be creative exercises...don't expect yourself to create a hyper realistic detailed piece every day. Some days you might. Other days might be gesture drawings. You can find more on social websites like Instagram or groups dedicated to art challenges, like Doodlewash.
