Want to know the first step in art journaling? Just do it.
There are no rules for art journaling. Some art journals are like a diary, others are like a scrapbook. Some art journals are neat and organized...others are messy and chaotic.... Some are both.
Your art journal is about YOU. YOUR experiences will guide your art journal.
On this page is a collection of images and tips to help inspire you to start.
Maybe something happened today. Maybe this something had an impact on you. You can use art journaling to reflect on events and how you are reacting emotionally to a situation. Images, quotes, song lyrics, how you apply your material to a page...all of these elements come together to express YOUR experience, and give yourself the headspace to reflect on the situation yourself.
Try something new. Draw something from a different angle. Use a different material. Combine materials you think may, or may not, work well together. Take a (flat-ish) object and make it a piece of artwork. Venture to the scary place outside your comfort zone and try something new!
