Vote for your Homecoming Court!
Class Council Application Information 2025-2026
Remember that you are running for general membership on class council, not a specific position.
Application and Speech
Go to tinyurl.com/SHSClassCouncil25-26 to access the application, or use the QR code at the top of the page. You must be logged into your WakeID to open the form. Complete all questions on the application. Google allows you to save your work and return later.
Speeches are available for students to view while voting. You will record your speech on your own; you can use a laptop, tablet, or phone (landscape view is best). Speeches should be no more than 30 seconds and must be delivered alone. No music, props, or special effects are allowed. Talk slowly and clearly.
Upload the final copy of your speech to Google Drive, and change the share settings to “share with Wake County Public School System”. You will copy and paste the link for your speech on the last slide of your application.
Submit your application and speech online by April 21st at midnight.
Character Evaluation
Each student running for council must have teacher approval to run. If a student is currently on council, all current advisors must approve the candidate to run. Sanderson staff members will be asked to complete character evaluations on all students running for council. You need an average score to be approved to run. You do NOT have to do anything - Ms. Chiott handles this part.
Campaign Rules
Campaigning begins April 21st and ends April 28th. You may create up to three posters, and all must be appropriate. DO NOT tape to painted surfaces. DO NOT cover-up other posters or information items for clubs, etc. Clean up ALL campaign materials after elections are over. You are also allowed to campaign on social media.
You are expected to run a fair campaign and be gracious to your opponents. Your attitude and cooperation will determine if your name will appear on the final ballot.
Elections
Voting will take place through a Google Form from April 28-30. Students only vote for the class council for their grade level. 14 students are elected to each class council. Results will be emailed to all applicants on May 1st at the end of the school day and will be shared in the announcements the following week.
Appointments
Class advisers are able to appoint additional members to class council after elections. To be appointed, students must have participated in the traditional election process. Appointed members will also be notified via email on May 1st at the same time as the general election results. Appointed members are eligible to run for a class officer position and vote in all meetings.
Applications and speeches must be turned in online. Late submissions will not be accepted.
