2020-2021

Evidence & Reflection

Expected Outcomes

Due to the Global COVID-19 Pandemic, we did not write specific outcomes for this school year. Our MTAC goals were as follows:

  • Stay up-to-date with technology changes as students move between in-person and virtual learning

  • Adjust technology in the building to meet the needs of teachers when changes occur

  • Set guidelines for book checkout that meet safety protocols while allowing checkout to continue for all students

  • Continue to share digital tools across grade levels that meet the needs of both virtual and in-person instruction

  • Plan for ways to continue our newly acquired digital skills into the 2021-2022 school year

Evidence & Reflection

All of our MTAC meeting agendas for the 2020-2021 school year can be viewed below.

The COVID-19 pandemic put a lot of our previous goals as an MTAC team on hold. We worked diligently as a team to stay up-to-date with all digital updates/changes throughout the school year. We learned to use Google Meets and Google Classroom with students to deliver instruction virtually to all students. We adjusted our sails and mastered each new feature of Google Meet (breakout rooms, host controls, etc) sharing best practices with our staff on a regular basis.

When students returned to campus, we found creative ways to share the devices we had remaining on campus to best meet the needs of all students and staff. We implemented a system for moving devices around the building during specials so that all students had access to a device.

We continued book checkout for all students on our campus beginning with completely virtual checkout and curbside checkout. We then moved to online checkout with classroom delivery for students who returned to in-person instruction. Students had access to books throughout the entire school year. We also hosted our first online Book Fair in November of 2020 with great success.

At our MTAC meetings we shared the digital tools that were working best for instruction at each grade level. We researched upgrades to some of the digital tools to determine what would best meet the needs of our students. We purchased Reading A-Z for our virtual teachers to have access to leveled books, and many teachers purchased upgraded accounts with Kahoot through PTA start-up funds to use as an assessment tool.

Our theme for the 2021-2022 school year will focus specifically on changing our mindset to continue to build on the newly acquired digital skills implemented with virtual teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be working closely with our Secretary and PTA President to purchase digital tools for the fall that will allow us to continue to grow as educators using 21st century tools.
