Over the course of the 18/19 academic year, the MTAC team will support and promote increased usage of the library space including (but not limited to) flexible time slots for research instruction, open circulation, and technology integration amongst students, faculty, and staff.

Media Coordinator will offer Google Classroom Professional Development

On November 6, 2018, Laura Nowak (SLMC) offered a professional development session for staff on Google Classroom. Two sessions were offered to differentiate for staff. The first session was a basics session for those who were unfamiliar with Google Classroom. The second session was for teachers who had used Google Classroom in the past but wanted to learn more about integrating it into classroom instruction. As a result, teachers in grades 2-5 are using Google Classroom regularly.

Media Coordinator will meet with and support PLTs at least twice a month

Over the course of the 2018-2019 school year, the School Library Media Coordinator has met with PLTs regularly to support instruction. The SLMC has also joined the Intervention Team as a Case Manager to continue supporting grade level PLTs.

The Media Center will be open for circulation on a flexible schedule throughout the school year.

The Scotts Ridge Elementary Media Center has been working on a flexible schedule for the majority of the 2018-2019 school year. Classroom teachers in grades 2-5 bring their students down weekly for checkout. Kindergarten and 1st Grade students are pulled from their Technology special to circulate in the library.

Classroom teachers can sign up for the media center to flexibly use the space for research, technology, or collaboration.

The Scotts Ridge Elementary Media Center has been working on a flexible schedule for the majority of the 2018-2019 school year. Classroom teachers are able to sign up to use the Media Center for research using our Chromebooks. They can elect to work with our without the assistance of the SLMC. Classroom teachers are able to conduct research projects in a more timely manner with resources more readily available to them.

Media coordinator will set up Skype "visits" and/or visiting authors at least two times during the school year

Over the course of the 2018-2019 school year, the School Library Media Coordinator has set up three author visits. The SLMC worked with Quail Ridge Books to bring Kevin Cornell for grades K-2 and the Story Pirates to perform Lemoncello Live for students in grades 3-5 in November of 2018.

Partnering with Baucom Elementary, Scotts Ridge Elementary will also host Henry Cole for all grade levels on April 10, 2019.

Media coordinator and technology teacher will build Community Partnerships (SAS, AFHS AOE, Paul Carr) and schedule events for classroom teachers

The SLMC and technology teacher have built Community Partnerships by inviting members of the community to come to SRE to present to students and staff.

Paul Carr, former Delta Airlines pilot, presented to the 4th graders about the Wright Brothers and the science of flight.

Mindy Townsend, SRE's Technology Teacher, has worked with Apex Friendship High School's AOE students to bring STEM activities to multiple students in several different grade levels.

The Technology Teacher partnered with SAS Educators to bring STEM activities to SRE for Hour of Code.

The Media Coordinator will collaborate with classroom teachers to build inquiry into research projects

Throughout the 2018-2019 school year, the SLMC has collaborated with classroom teachers on research projects to build inquiry into lesson planning. The biggest need this year was for curated collections of resources for research projects. Because the Digital Portfolio initiative is rolling out in Google Sites, the research resources were curated by the SLMC in Google Sites.

The SLMC collaborated extensively with 2nd grade on their Wild Weather project and kindergarten on their Countries Research project to provide resources, co-teach lessons, and integrate inquiry into lesson plans and instruction.
