Welcome!

Ligon Middle School is back again for the 2022-2023 school year! This website is (mainly) for parents and students who are in 8th Grade ELA. Updates and announcements will be shared through Google Classroom or in-person on a daily basis, but long-term updates may be found here or on the 8th Grade Website. Please feel free to look around and find the information you need or resources that you would like to try.

Student Work

Take a look at some of the student drawings and digital art pieces previous 8th-grade classes made to introduce themselves. Students picked 8 symbols to represent their personality, beliefs, and interests. They then recorded a presentation of their drawing so that their peers could get to know them better in our virtual classes. This is an assignment we do in the first week of school.

Our Ligon 8th graders are wonderful students and have a wide variety of interests. Check back again after we finish Module 1 to see new student pieces.

This is the 2022-2023 traditional calendar. Please follow these dates to see when each quarter ends and when we have teacher workdays and holidays.

Module 3

Students will read Carlotta Walls LaNier's A Mighty Long Way. This is a memoir of the Little Rock Nine and their struggle to integrate Little Rock High School towards the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. Please see the memo from WCPSS to learn more about this module.
