Course Description

Welcome to 8th grade English Language Arts! This class is broken into four modules. Throughout the year, we will study literature and texts from a variety of viewpoints and cultures. Students will also discover how the works we study connect to their own lives and present-day topics and trends.

In addition, students should expect to improve their writing, public speaking, research, collaboration, and communication skills. While preparing for the EOG and all its parts, students will practice a variety of writing in order to strengthen analysis, research, and editing skills. Students will work in collaborative groups throughout the semester and individual and group presentations will be assigned in order to improve students’ speaking skills. Students will also participate in class discussions and will be expected to complete any assigned work in order to fully participate in these discussions.
