Classes

Rules & Expectations

Students will follow my rules and expectations, as well as their peers’. Each class will develop additional rules and expectations. These rules and expectations will fall underneath the guidelines I provide, and students will treat these rules and expectations as a formal contract. If they violate the class rules and expectations, as well as my own, they are then subject to disciplinary action. Below are my rules and expectations for all my classes:

  • Communicate with others in a respectful and civil manner.

  • Work hard and to the best of your abilities.

  • Be honest in your work and in your actions.

  • Respect yourself.

  • “Because nice matters.”

Learning Procedures

  • Cell phones/off-topic websites/gaming devices are prohibited unless directed for use during an activity. Put all electronic devices on silent; keep it away and out of sight.

  • Students will come prepared to class every day. Students must have required materials ready and assignments completed. In addition, being prepared for class also means that students will work, communicate, and participate effectively. Students who are not prepared will be given a chance to correct their errors or behavior. Failure to do so, or multiple offenses, will lead to disciplinary action.

Grading Policy

  1. Classwork - 20%

  2. Homework - 10%

  3. Quizzes - 30%

  4. Tests/Projects - 40%

Absent, Missing & Late Work

Students will follow Ligon’s policies in regard to absent and missing/late work. Recovery opportunities will be provided to students as well for tests and projects (with the maximum recovery grade as 70%). The maximum grade for a late assignment is 89% and will remain a 0% if it is not turned in within a week after the due date.

Work done in class should be done in class. It is the student’s responsibility to be diligent in completing and turning in their work. I expect students to be prepared for class each day and completing their work by the due date is vital for students to be sufficiently prepared for this class.

Own your work; own your mistakes. I would rather you come to me before the due date and ask for more time or admit that an assignment will be late. Accepting your mistakes or asking for help is a valuable lesson that we all must learn.
