Welcome to the chorus program at Ligon! 

The choir program at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School focuses on high quality music education and engaging performances. The impact music and arts education has on the life of a child is at the core of our program.  Music is a form of self-expression, cultural relevance and individual identity. Our curriculum and programs focus on the values of responsibility, teamwork, accountability, confidence and empathy. Those skills combine and transfer, not only to a performance stage but to every element of the singer's life. We come together to learn, make music, enjoy the creative process in a safe environment and leave stronger people. When we all have the same "why", we can make great change within our choir program, the Ligon community and beyond. 

Students are immersed in international, student-centered work throughout the school and community. Within our choir program, singers will be exposed to international and local artists through our musical journey. Learners will become reflective as we navigate the artistic and technical processes. 

Students will experience music through performance, listening activities, analysis and awareness of how the music can impact the local and global communities. Students will study various styles of music and relate their musical skills to the history and significance of the music studied. We will study the roles and responsibilities of musicians and their work, as students create meaningful, relevant and quality work of their own. 

Through collaboration, chorus students at Ligon build a positive community of learning, taking risks, creating and showing their love for music making.
