Chorus Opportunities

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ENSEMBLES

All of these chorus opportunities take place outside of school, require additional after school rehearsal time, independent practice at home, and in some cases, travel and hotel expenses. Scholarships may be available for students selected. 

NCMEA State Honors Chorus (Vocal Ensemble): State Honors Chorus is the highest auditioned ensemble for Middle School singers in NC. Each school is invited to bring the top 15% (or up to 25 students, whichever is fewer) to an in-person audition. Honors Treble and selected Tenor-Bass Ensemble students will be selected to audition. 

• In-class auditions: Week of September 7

• NCMEA Audition Registration Due: September 13

• Audition Fee: $25

• Auditions: Wednesday September 30 @ Cary Academy

• Notification of Selection: October 5

• Additional fees will apply if your singer is selected

• Clinic Dates: November 7 - November 8 at Benton Convention Center, Winston-Salem, NC

ACDA National Honor Choir: MS students are eligible to audition for the 7th (Tenors & Bass)-9th Grade Mixed Honor Choir or the 5th-7th Grade Treble Choir. 

• Audition Registration Due: September 11

• Audition Fee: $30

• Recorded Auditions to be completed on September 21 & 22

• Clinic Dates: March 7-10, 2027 in Minneapolis, MN

WCPSS All-County Chorus (SCHOOL-BASED AUDITIONS)

Registration Fee: $45

Clinic Dates: February 4-5 at Martin MS 

NCMEA All-State Chorus (SCHOOL-BASED AUDITIONS)

6th Grade Chorus, Treble Chorus & Mixed Chorus

Registration Fee: TBA 

Clinic Dates: TBA

Students who audition for State Honors Chorus and National Honor Choir and are NOT selected receive priority placement for All-County Chorus and All-State Chorus. Ligon receives a select number of allotments for each of these ensembles.
