Vocal Ensemble
The Ligon GT Magnet Middle School Vocal Ensemble is a year-long auditioned ensemble of seventh and eighth grade singers. Students in vocal ensemble focus on vocal technique in varying styles, performance skills, music literacy, as well as collaborative projects.
In adjudicated performances, these singers consistently receive high ratings and comments. Vocal Ensemble students participate in local, state, and national honor choirs. Most recently, the Ligon Vocal Ensemble has performed as part of Wake County Public School System's 40th Anniversary Pieces of Gold celebration, at Biltmore Estate for Candlelight Christmas and Heritage WorldStrides Festival in Williamsburg.
Members of this group may participate in the annual Wake County All-County Chorus, NC All-State Chorus, and NC Honors Chorus, NC ACDA Middlefest!, NC Sings!, ACDA National/Regional Honors Choir, collaborates with other fine arts performers, and performs for the NC Music Performance Adjudication (MPA)
In this yearlong course, students sing three-part and/or four-part music in this performing choral music group as well as sight-singing, ear training, and music theory.
Students have the opportunity to sing solos and participate in small ensembles.
Some after-school rehearsals and evening performances will be required.
Students will study international music and histories of musical styles.
This class is by audition/teacher recommendation only.
All assignments, grades, rubrics, rehearsal tracks, etc will be available through Canvas.
