Our MTAC Committee met monthly to create a professional learning plan for media tech. We analyzed our 3rd quarter survey from the previous year, chose a focus for Wake Forward, and made recommendations to leadership regarding our Tech Plan, budget, and professional development, especially around digital portfolios, Google Drive, Canvas, research, and promotion of literacy. We had a diverse team chosen for us by our administration. MTAC (known as MTTT in 18-19, the Media Technology Training Team) was instrumental in providing professional learning with weekly Tech Tuesdays, professional digital portfolio training with both the staff and administration, Canvas, and student digital portfolios.
This survey is adapted and given every year to determine how the library is meeting the needs of the staff and how we can prepare a budget and a professional learning plan for the following year to improve. We gathered notable results to compile in this document. We utilized this document to advocate for time for professional learning and prepare a budget to present to the leadership team. We are pleased that the library is having a positive impact on our school through Literacy Week, but we believe we need to advocate strongly for more technology resources and training.
Staff participated in a variety of professional development opportunities surrounding digital tools. We used a combination of in person, flipped, required and optional sessions and then organized it in a Canvas course to allow staff to get digital learning CEUs. Ten percent of our staff took advantage of earning digital learning credits in this manner. This was a great way for us to organize most of our professional learning in one place while giving the staff the latitude to make it work for his/her classroom.
Comparing results of the 17-18 survey with the 18-19 survey, there was a massive increase in daily technology use, Wake ID use, and Google Apps use. Password resets have significantly decreased indicating a higher comfort level with the Wake ID portal.
