Equity & Cultural Competency
A strong school library program displays a commitment to inclusiveness and respect for diversity that is embodied in its policies, instruction, programming, materials, and pedagogy. This includes ensuring access, amplifying historically marginalized voices, and promoting literature and informational texts that reflect the lives, experiences, and interests of all students.
A strong library program connects students to the world around them through research and inquiry, and by supporting climate of reading. These connections are made through collaborative lessons and programming that integrate information and technology skills with classroom curriculum, through the curation of relevant and reliable print and digital resources, and by empowering students in the 4C's.

Over the course of the 18/19 academic year, an equity audit of our collection will be completed. Based on this audit, our collection management plan will be updated and modified as needed to increase representation in specific areas.

Over the course of the 18/19 academic year, our media program will integrate strategies learned by attending School-based training "Achieving Equitable Excellence", Beyond Diversity and specific Convergence sessions into the student instructional experience while also leveraging the resources that are added as a result of the equity audit of our collection.

Over the course of the 18/19 academic year, our media coordinator will integrate research skills and inquiry based lessons into student instruction in the area of Social Studies by attending district training on Inquiry based instruction, attending Social Studies PLTs, and collaborating with teachers.
