Our website is full of information that you can utilize throughout high school. Please use the tabs at the top to navigate through our website. At the bottom of this page you will find information about programs that we will be running throughout the school year as well as any important announcements. By clicking the button below, you can find your assigned School Counselor based on your last name and more information about our department. You can also read about the role of the School Counselor and the support we can provide.

School Counselors are available during school hours, 7am-3pm. If you need immediate mental health support, you can call the Alliance Health Crisis Response 24-Hour Crisis Hotline at 800-510-9132 or 919-560-7100.

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students enrolled in a Fall Semester AP class are automatically registered to take the AP in May when  they complete the Join process for their teacher's online AP Classroom.  If a student is registered for an exam and does not show up to take the exam in May, they will be charged a $40 unused exam fee by CollegeBoard. 


Any student who does not want to take the AP exam needs to submit the Cancellation Form by November 14th.

During this week, many North Carolina colleges and universities waive their application fees.  Student Services will be hosting a College Application Day during this week on October 23rdAll Seniors will be scheduled time in the Media Center on that day to get individual help with the college application process. There will be many college reps there to answer questions about their programs as well.  Students are encouraged to work with their parents to complete Residency Determination PRIOR to October 23rd.  Go to www.ncresidency.org to complete your residency determination.

The CCP enrollment cycle is now open for Spring Semester Wake Tech classes.  Enrollment form submission deadline is November 15th.  Follow the steps outlined in the links below:

Counselors will be meeting with seniors individually by classroom teacher. If you are not scheduled in English or Economics & Personal Finance this semester, your counselor will be meeting with you individually before 10/11. Please see schedule below. 


9/18 - AP English Literature classes (Wulffert 2nd period, Williams 3rd period)

9/24 - English IV classes (Wulffert - 1st and 3rd periods)

9/25 - English IV classes (Williams - 2nd and 4th periods)

9/26-  English IV (Dowler- 1st period)


10/7 - EPF classes (Bushhouse - 2nd and 3rd periods)

10/8 - EPF classes (Kidder - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods)

Please read all directions on the Schedule Change Request form carefully.


Schedule change requests will ONLY be reviewed for one of the following reasons:

• Failed a course needed for graduation

• Incomplete schedule – to fill a “hole” in the schedule

• Missing a core course required for graduation

• Missing a required prerequisite to take a course

• To increase rigor or address inappropriate level placement

• Previously failed with a scheduled teacher

• Schedule is unbalanced

• To request Senior Early Release or Mid-Year Graduation


REQUESTS FOR ELECTIVE CHANGES WILL NOT BE GRANTED (unless it reflects an increase in rigor or a prerequisite is missing.) 


DUE TO CLASSES BEING FULL AND SCHEDULING CONFLICTS, CHANGES ARE NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE. Students should monitor PowerSchool and their WCPSS Student email accounts for a response to the request. Please allow 7-10 days for requests to be reviewed. 


The deadline to submit a schedule change request is September 3rd.



2023-24 Announcements:

This is your FINAL chance to review and make changes to course requests for the 2024-25 school year! Please read and follow the COURSE VERIFICATION INSTRUCTIONS. The deadline to make changes to course requests is MAY 7th. After that date requests will be considered finalized. Any future change requests will only be honored based on our Schedule Change policy, which does not allow for elective changes.  (Students also received a hard copy of course requests from their 2nd period teachers.)


All Juniors will report to the Auditorium at the beginning of second period for the Junior Conference presentation.  Juniors will be provided a link to schedule an individual conference with their counselor.

Review the linked AP Exam Roster for a complete list of AP exams students are registered to take, as well as the date, time and location of the exams.  

What Students Should and Should NOT Bring to the Exam Site

If a student does not show up to take an AP exam, there will be a College Board $40 Unused Exam Fee charged to the student's Fees account.

Feb 26 - POWERSCHOOL IS OPEN FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION

March 22 - POWERSCHOOL ONLINE REGISTRATION is CLOSED

March 31st - Student APPLICATION COURSE DEADLINE (see links below) for Yearbook, Early Childhood Education, AP Music Theory, and PEPI

April (TBD) - Complete Course Verification process to finalize 2024-25 course requests in PowerSchool
