ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES

SUMMER READING SKILLS & SUMMER READING PROGRAMS

The Institute of Reading Development is offering a program for rising 6th - 8th graders to improve reading skills over the summer at NCSU. Students in this program will make substantial gains in comprehension while doubling reading speed. They will also learn the best way to read textbooks, take notes, and study for tests. As a result, students will complete homework more quickly and easily, get better grades, and enjoy reading more. These enrichment classes are taught by professional instructors from the Institute of Reading Development.

NCSU Study Skills Camp

The Psychoeducational Clinic at NC State University is pleased to offer their Study Skills Camp this summer to support middle and high school students in achieving academic success. Executive Functioning Skills

Be A Problem Solver Services is offering summer workshops for middle school and high school students in Fuquay-Varina and Cary, with both a one-week intensive option and a two-week skill-building option available.

These workshops are a great fit for students who may struggle with staying organized, keeping track of assignments/deadlines, initiating tasks independently, managing time, and MORE! Their goal is to help students build practical systems and strategies during the summer, when stress is lower, so they can enter the school year feeling more prepared and supported.
