$10 Dues for NAHS Students due December 5th!

Service Hours

NAHS members are required to complete at least 10 hours of service (pertaining to the arts) in a school year. Seniors, be sure to have your hours completed by the induction ceremony in May in order to get your cord for graduation.

The purpose of National Art Honor Society is to:

  • Recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in the field of art.

  • Serve as an inspiration for students to strive for higher goals in their work.

  • Foster excellence and a dedicated spirit in the pursuit of art.

  • Encourage the creative abilities and talents of the individual student.

  • Bring art to the attention of the school and community.

  • Increase the awareness of art as a viable area within the total school curriculum.

  • Promote volunteerism and improve the community through the arts.

A brief synopsis :

NAHS typically meets the first and third Wednesday of each month for brief informational meetings, and at least once a month after school for NAHS/Art Club workshops and events. As a member of NAHS, you will help plan and participate in community service projects and Art Club Workshops, Develop your own personal artwork, and participate in local and regional exhibitions and competitions. Membership can provide you with a large number of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, recognition at the NAHS Induction Ceremony, NAHS cords for graduation (for members who stay active through their senior year), and a number of extracurricular and service opportunities.

As an NAHS Member at Cary High School, you will be required to:

  • Be enrolled in an Honors or AP level Art course (Proficient or Advanced) during the school year,

  • Maintain a minimum art scholarship average of B or above in all art courses,

  • Remain active during such time when there is no art on your class schedule,

  • Attend all mandatory SMART Lunch meetings, (2 absences allowed per year)

  • Attend at least 3 Art Club Workshops (held monthly after school) throughout the year.

  • Earn a minimum of 10 service hours in the arts during the school year.

  • Pay annual dues of approximately $10-15 (varies depending on number of students).
